Just got this working! I just needed to configuring the MQTT broker properly. Seems obvious now.
iot_maker: Quick note: Matter support was deprecated in version X. Switch to Zigbee2MQTT now.

Fair point. You're right about the security concern. Despite that, the additional features is worth the configuration.
